- Licensed NCC operator in Rome since 2009
- Flight tracking included — driver waits even if your flight is delayed
Rome has two international airports and one persistent problem: getting into the city without overpaying or standing in a taxi queue for 40 minutes. Black Cabs Rome has run licensed private transfers between both airports and the city centre since 2009. Fixed rates, Mercedes vehicles, and a driver who tracks your flight. That’s the whole offer.

Private Airport Transfer Rome — Fiumicino (FCO) & Ciampino (CIA)
Rome’s two main airports handle over 50 million passengers per year (Aeroporti di Roma, 2023), yet reliable ground transport remains the most common complaint among first-time visitors. A licensed NCC private transfer solves that directly: one vehicle, one driver, one fixed price, door to door.
Fiumicino (FCO) sits roughly 32 km southwest of central Rome — transfer time 35 to 55 minutes depending on traffic. Ciampino (CIA) is closer at about 15 km southeast, but GRA ring-road congestion can extend journey times. Both routes are covered at fixed rates with no hidden fees.
Fixed Prices — No Meters, No Surprises
NCC operators in Italy must charge pre-agreed flat rates by law (Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti, Legislative Decree 285/1992). No traffic supplements, no night fees, no extras for delayed flights.
| Route | Mercedes Berlina (up to 3 pax) |
Mercedes Minivan (up to 7 pax) |
|---|---|---|
| Rome Centre ↔ Fiumicino (FCO) | €80 | €100 |
| Rome Centre ↔ Ciampino (CIA) | €70 | €90 |
| Prices include VAT, tolls, and meet & greet. No supplements for night arrivals or flight delays. | ||
For groups of three or more, an NCC minivan consistently costs less per person than multiple taxis — and arrives together.
What’s Included in Your Rome Airport Transfer
Meet & Greet at Arrivals
Your driver waits inside the terminal with a name board. For Fiumicino, the meeting point is the arrivals hall of your terminal (T1, T2, or T3). For Ciampino, it’s the main arrivals exit. You don’t search for a car — the car finds you.
Flight Tracking
Drivers monitor your flight in real time. If your plane lands 90 minutes late, your driver adjusts automatically. No extra charge, no need to call ahead — standard, not a premium add-on.
Vehicle & Luggage
The berlina (Mercedes E-Class) seats 3 passengers with standard suitcases. The minivan (Mercedes V-Class) seats up to 7 with full luggage capacity. Both vehicles are air-conditioned and maintained to professional NCC standards.
How to Book Your Rome Airport Transfer
- Message via WhatsApp: +39 393 351 0684
- Share your flight number, arrival/departure time, and pickup address
- Receive written confirmation with driver name and vehicle details
- Once we confirm a car is available you receive a link for the 30% deposit; the balance is paid to the driver on the day, cash or card
No account creation needed. Please book at least one day in advance: we confirm the driver first, then send the deposit link — you are never charged for a transfer we cannot cover. Milko Storti handles bookings personally and responds typically within the hour.
Fiumicino vs Ciampino: Which Airport Are You Flying Into?
Fiumicino handles roughly 80% of Rome’s air traffic and serves most long-haul and major European carriers. Ciampino is smaller, used mainly by Ryanair and Wizz Air, and sits closer to the city.
Fiumicino (FCO) — Leonardo da Vinci Airport
Three passenger terminals (T1, T2, T3) plus satellite T5 for intercontinental flights. Confirm your terminal when booking. Distance from central Rome: ~32 km. Transfer time: 35–55 min.
Ciampino (CIA) — G.B. Pastine Airport
Single terminal, simpler layout. Distance from central Rome: ~15 km. Transfer time: 25–45 min. Most Ryanair flights to Rome use Ciampino. Note: the GRA ring road at rush hour (07:00–09:30 and 17:00–20:00) can make a 15 km Ciampino transfer take as long as a 32 km Fiumicino transfer mid-morning — build in buffer time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a private transfer from Rome to Fiumicino cost?
€80 for a Mercedes berlina (up to 3 passengers) and €100 for a Mercedes minivan (up to 7 passengers). Fixed price — includes VAT, tolls, and meet & greet. No supplements for night arrivals or delays.
Is a private transfer cheaper than a Rome taxi to the airport?
For solo travellers, prices are broadly comparable. For groups of 3 or more, the NCC minivan at €100 typically costs less per person than multiple taxis. The key difference: NCC rates are fixed by contract, while taxi meters can vary.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Your driver tracks your flight in real time and adjusts pickup automatically. No extra charge, no need to contact us. This applies to both Fiumicino and Ciampino transfers.
How do I book a Rome airport transfer?
WhatsApp +39 393 351 0684 with your flight number, date, time, and address. We confirm the driver is available, then send you a link for the 30% deposit; the balance is paid to the driver on the day, cash or card. The deposit is only retained if you cancel within 24 hours or do not show up.
Do you cover hotels outside the historic centre?
Yes — fixed prices apply across central Rome including Prati, Trastevere, Testaccio, EUR. Hotels outside the city (Tivoli, Orvieto, etc.) receive a fixed quote when booking. No surprises after the ride.
Night and holiday surcharges
- Night service (10:00 PM to 6:00 AM): +20% surcharge on the standard daytime rate.
- Sundays and national public holidays: surcharge of up to +50% on the standard rate.
Any surcharge is always stated in your quote and agreed before departure — no surprise charges at the end of the ride.
Included waiting time and no-shows
- Airport arrivals (Fiumicino, Ciampino): up to 75 minutes after actual landing. We track your flight in real time.
- Civitavecchia cruise port: up to 60 minutes after your confirmed disembarkation time.
- Train stations: up to 30 minutes from the agreed time.
- Departures to the airport, pickup at your address or hotel: 15 minutes from the agreed time.
No-show. If the passenger does not show up within the included waiting time, the driver records their presence with a real-time GPS location and a photo: at the airport, of the arrivals board together with the passenger’s name sign; at an address, of the building entrance with the street sign. In that case it counts as a no-show and the deposit is retained, as set out in our booking terms.
